Linking & Unlinking Family Members: Assigning A Guardian, PHI Access & Insurance

In this article you will learn:

How to link and unlink family members in the family file.
How to quickly assign a guardian and PHI access.

In the patient overview, you will see the Family area on the right side of the page.

You will see a section labeled Unlinked. These are patients in the family file that do not have an assigned relationship to the patient.

To link a family member, click the blue link icon.

You will notice that there is a section labeled Unlinked. These are patient's in the family file that do not have an assigned relationship to the patient.

Select the relationship to the patient.

To unlink a family member, click the unlink icon.

Click on Unlink.

To assign a Guardian to a patient click the down arrow under Guardian and select the family member from the drop-down.

To assign PHI Access click the down arrow under PHI Access and select the patient(s) from the drop-down.

To assign PHI Access click the down arrow and select the patient(s) from the drop down.

You can see now that Parent Guardian is the Guardian of the kids and has PHI access to Child 3 Guardian.

You can see here that Parent Guardian is the Guardian of the kids and has PHI access to Child 3 Guardian.

You assign insurance by selecting the drop-down arrow under Insurance.

Note: This will populate a list of family members with primary insurance. If you select a patient to add the insurance, you will not be able to deselect it. You will need to navigate to the patient's insurance page to edit or remove the insurance.

You can also assign insurance by selecting the drop down arrow under Insurance.

You can click on Manage Insurances from the drop-down, which will take you to the patient's insurance screen.
