In this article, you will learn how to collect for an individual patient or collect a family balance.
Note: Family Payments does not extend to the patient portal. When patients are paying via the patient portal they must pay for each family member separately.
Go to the Patient Billing.
Only family members who are linked will appear under the family balance on a patient's ledger.
Note: Only linked family members are available to pay invoices or use shared payment methods.
When collecting payment, you have a few different options.
The first option is to click Collect Payment.
Then choose to collect for the individual patient or the family.
The second option is to use the Collect icons on the right-hand side.

Collect Individual Patient Balance: Click the Collect icon next to Patient Balance.

Collect Family Balance: Click the Collect icon next to Family Balance.
You will receive a notification if you're collecting the individual patient balance and there are uninvoiced items.
Click Create Invoice to create an invoice or you can proceed with the payment for the current balance.
You will receive a notification if you're collecting the family balance and one or more family members have uninvoiced items.
Click the Patient's Name to create an invoice or you can proceed with the payment for the current balance.

Whether you click to create an invoice for the individual or click on a family member, it will populate the invoice for any uninvoiced items for that patient.
Once you click Create, you will return to the payment page to continue to process the payment.
When collecting payment for the family, you can remove any specific invoices or all invoices for a specific patient in the family if needed.
To remove an invoice, click the - icon to the right of the invoice.
Once you are ready to process the payment, complete the Payment Details.
Patients can pay using the following methods:

Cash, Check, Credit Card, or Third-Party Financing

A Shared Family Payment Method

Shared Patient Walet

Shared Save Credit Card

Click Record Payment when finished.
When a payment is completed across multiple family members in one payment, the receipt will mark which invoice was paid for each patient.
Click the Payments Tab.
The Payment Tab will show the amount of the total payments applied to the patient whose ledge you are viewing.
When a family payment is made, you will see all the family members associated with that payment and how many invoices were paid.
Note: The green circle around the patient's initials indicates the patient that made the payment.
If you click on the Invoices, there is a link to each of the invoices included in the family payment.
